Telehealth Individualized Interventions to Support Children’s Emotional and Academic Success

At Lavender Hills Psychotherapy, we offer virtual therapy for children and parents throughout Maryland and PSYPACT-participating states. Online sessions offer several benefits for families seeking support. They provide convenient access to our services from home, easily fitting into busy schedules and eliminating commute times. Additionally, skills learned during a session can be immediately practiced within the home environment afterward, enhancing their application in daily life.

Through a supportive and individualized approach, I provide children with the tools they need to build resilience, improve focus, and manage their emotions in healthy ways. I work closely with parents and teachers to create consistent strategies that support each child’s growth both at home and in school. I also work with children adjusting to divorce, helping them express feelings, strengthen coping skills, and maintain healthy connections with both parents.

Evidence-Based Support for Children and Families: CBT

Therapies that use a Cognitive Behavioral approach are grounded in the theory that altering the child’s thoughts and behaviors leads to an improvement in functioning. CBT involves teaching the child concrete skills, and having the child practice these skills outside of session.

Therapy

TF-CBT is an evidence-based treatment for children and teens who have experienced one or more traumatic events and have symptoms of post-traumatic stress. Treatment includes education about trauma and common reactions, learning and practicing safety skills, assistance with parenting and behavior problems, stress management and coping skills, learning about feelings and ways to manage them, processing unresolved thoughts and feelings related to the traumatic experience, and family sessions to discuss the trauma together.
